Patients at a variety of medical facilities rely on nurses for their daily care. Nurses that give the feeling of confidence to patients and co-workers tend to become leaders in their profession. If you are looking through Soliant nursing job listings trying to determine which positions will let you maximize your leadership skills, remember that leadership in nursing starts with you.

Image by Lower Columbia College via Flickr

Setting a Good Example

A nurse is dedicated to doing her job both for the facility and for the patients. She gets to work on time and works as long as she is asked. A good nursing leader would not ask anyone else to do something that she would not do herself. Be the first person in line to take on the more difficult tasks and the one that everyone can rely on if you wish to gain status as a leader.

Career Management

To stay a leader in the nursing field, you need to maintain your own career while staying up to date on all of the new advances in medical technology. A nursing leader becomes a resource for the rest of the staff when a difficult situation arises. To be that leader, you need to keep educating yourself and working toward advancing your career.

Decisive

Knowing your job as a nurse means that you can be decisive at all times. Your staff and patients will consistently turn to you as a leader with answers the more that you display an ability to remain confident in your decisions and make the right call.

Nursing is a competitive field. If you want to be recognized as a leader, it is up to you to take the steps necessary to stay educated and confident.

Keeping Track of Details

When managing multiple online trading accounts, it is sometimes difficult to stay on top of all of the details. Some individuals have chosen to make foreign exchange trading a career, which is a very profitable option if the trader understands the process. Some people have several foreign exchange accounts, and taking care of each one is sometimes a challenge.

Smooth Management

Keeping track of each account is similar to a boss managing employees. Individuals have characteristics that make them unique, and a foreign exchange account has options that make it stand out from other accounts. Some companies offer virtual accounts, which trade and manage foreign currency with no actual flow of dollars, and help new traders learn the process before investing hard-earned money. Being a boss of the account is crucial before starting the actual investment process.

Online Accounts

Many companies provide services accessible from the Internet. This means that customers are completely responsible for their accounts, and provides freedom to traders. Some sites offer tutorials or assistance from professional brokers, if desired by the customer. Those who want to trade forex online can enjoy the satisfaction of knowing they are the reason their trades are successful.

Making Money

Whether choosing to trade as a hobby or a job path, new and experienced traders have potential to earn a lot of money in foreign exchange markets. Income is often relative to the amount of practice and experience a person has; the more trades are completed, the more smoothly the process will run.

The root word of ‘manager’ is ‘manage’ and the expectation is to manage all operations or services. This means managing staff, too, and that can be hair-raising at times.

The best managers know exactly what it’s like to perform the staff’s duties because they are part of their team, and work with the staff. Of course, this isn’t always possible, but it makes for good relationships with employees and better service for customers.

Try to communicate what is wanted very clearly. Not everyone thinks the same way and staff can’t be expected to second-guess their boss. Politely ask if they understand. If not, say it again.

Be a Well-Liked Boss but Still be Professional

Find out each employee’s personal gifts and talents and work with them. Some people are great with greeting customers and others aren’t, but they might be good at organization; utilize natural talent and the team just gets better.

Make sure that if someone does a job well or goes beyond their job description, make sure they get thanked somehow. There must be a reward for working harder. Give them a gift certificate to a restaurant and then make sure everyone else knows, so they can congratulate the person, too.

Don’t make the staff have split days off, split shifts, or lots of overtime. Don’t make them work on their scheduled days off or on holidays and don’t make them work when they’re sick – you work. Think of all the times when working is difficult due to sickness or lack of childcare, etc.

Be fair and treat the staff well and there will always be a dedicated staff under the management.

Image via Wikipedia

When thinking about becoming a manager, many people think that this is a great way to make more money. They don’t think about the fact that they will be responsible for others. They also don’t take into account the increase in work that they will have to do, and responsibilities that they will have. Because of this, once making it into a management role, many people are unsatisfied. There are some things to keep in mind before taking on the management role.

Increased Responsibility

You will have a lot more responsibility when you are a manager than you did as a “regular” employee. Think about whether you are ready and able to take on this extra responsibility before accepting the job. You may even want an outline of what the responsibilities of the position entail.

Salary?

Many times, managers are a salaried position. This is a great option for many people. Make sure that it works for you. Having a personal budget can help with this.

Leadership

Being in a leadership position is not something that everyone wants to do. In fact, there are many that feel that they are not management material because of this aspect. Being able to be a good, effective leader is an essential part of taking on a management role.

Helping Others

Though this goes along with most of the other points, being able to effectively help others in their roles is important. Understanding the other roles in the company can be very helpful for this. You need to be able to communicate well with others, both those under you, and those in similar or higher positions.

In the early stages of employment, most people are happy just to get experience. As your career progresses however your attention may shift toward becoming a boss. If you’ve been promoted recently and have joined the ranks of management, below are a few things to keep in mind while digesting your new found role.

First, you must come to terms with the fact that things between you and your co-workers will undoubtedly change. Moving up the ladder and into your own office presents not only a physical divide, but also represents a work place division where you may have to assess friends on an objective basis. When you are tasked with the performance of a unit or division, ultimately you must make employment decisions that best suit the goal you are trying to accomplish.

Second, immediately set individual goals for the members of your department. Ideally, a good employee is going to come to you with his goals for the year and you can supplement those goals with your own suggestions. Just as important is setting your own goals for the next year. Management roles often come fraught with challenges and it important that you itemize these challenges and set a plan for meeting department goals.

Third, make sure you get to know the strengths of your individual team members if you do not already. If you came up through the company ranks you may already know the strengths and weaknesses of your team members which will serve as an asset to you and the company. Knowing how to deploy department assets can be the difference between hitting your goals and coming up short.

Apple Bottoms was one of the many businesses founded by Cornell Haynes Jr. who’s also popularly known as Nelly, the rapper, music mogul, Grammy award winner, and actor. In 2003 He came up with launching a clothing line along with his friend Ian Kelly, and Cousin Yomi Martin. They altogether started out the business of a lifestyle & clothing brand where they initially sell the now famous “Apple Bottom Jeans”. It has become very popular for women’s clothing and later on Apple Bottoms primarily caters to female clothing line from all shapes and sizes that are fashion forward or trendy.
